| The next issue of Otechestvennye Zapiski, which recently went on sale, is dedicated to sports. “A comprehensive social phenomenon”, “the most important tool of globalization”, even “religion at the turn of the millennium” - sociologists, cultural historians and sports journalists, whose articles are collected this time in the magazine, do not skimp on epithets and comparisons, characterizing the multifaceted and truly enormous role , which sport plays in modern society, especially in the last half century. The editors sought not only to highlight this role, but also to reflect the rapid changes taking place both in the sport itself and in the methods of its comprehension and study. Hence the abundance of translations and abstracts included in the issue, although, as usual, it consists primarily of articles by Russian authors. We bring to the attention of Vremya Novostei readers a summary of several texts. |
