
Belarus will begin to produce oil in Venezuela in 2007. The relevant agreements were reached between Secretary of State Security of Belarus, Viktor Sheiman and President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez.
The meeting of senior representatives of the two countries took place in the Venezuelan province of Borino, Interfax reports with reference to the press service of the Security Council of Belarus.
"The head of Venezuela instructed the Minister of Energy and Oil Venezuela Rafael Ramirez not only to choose areas promising for oil production for Belarus, but also to ensure the work of Belarusian specialists this year," the Belarusian department said.
The President of Venezuela also confirmed the will for his part to ensure Belarus, the possibility of oil production in the amount of up to 2 million tons per year.
Sheiman during a meeting with the Minister of Energy and Oil Venezuela also obtained consent from his partner to participate in Belarusian specialists in the gasification of the capital of the province of Borino.
During the visit of the Secretary of State, issues of delivery to Venezuela of Belarusian TVs and refrigerators were worked out, as well as organizing assembly industries of the Belarusian consumer goods on the territory of the Latin American state.
Among other things, a meeting of Sheiman with Venezuela’s defense Minister Raul Baduela, during which the issues of military-technical cooperation and training of personnel were discussed.
It should be noted that the new impulse of the Belarusian-Venesuel relations, especially in the energy sector, was set by the cooling of relations with Russia, which at the end of 2006 sharply increased energy prices for the regime of Alexander Lukashenko.
