Prime Minister of Ukraine, leader of the Party of Regions Viktor Yanukovych said that President Viktor Yushchenko "must respect the point of view of the Ukrainian people."
“If the president professes the principles of democracy, then he should know their functional principles and respect the choice of the Ukrainian people regardless of his addictions,” Yanukovych said today before supporters of the coalition of national unity in the European Square in the center of Kyiv, where more than 100 thousand people gathered.
Yanukovych arrived at the square when the rally had already ended and the audience listened to the concert. The protesters approvingly accepted the prime minister that the coalition and the government "would not go to the ultimatum of the opposition."
"We will not perceive the ultimatum from the president and the opposition, which are outside the legal field and the constitution," Yanukovych said. He called the actions of the opposition, which demands from Yushchenko to dissolve the parliament, anti -constitutional. “We urge the president and the opposition to work together for the good of the people,” said Yanukovych. “We call everyone to peace, consent and unity. Everything else is impossible. This is the future.”
The prime minister thanked those present for the fact that they came to the European Square "On this pre -holiday day" and urged them "not to express emotions, but to do everything with good and love."
