
The fight for the world champion according to the World Boxing Organization / WBO / heavyweight weight between Russian Sultan Ibragimov and American Shannon Briggs was postponed from Moscow to the United States.
The date remained the same - June 2. This was announced by the press service of the professional boxing Federation of Russia with reference to one of the organizers of the fight - the Russian company Golden Grain Promovn.
The last days, tense negotiations with the participation of all interested parties on holding on the same day - June 2 in Moscow - two champion battles - also for the world title according to the World Boxing Council / WBC / between Russian Oleg Maskaev and Ukrainian Vitaly Klitschko.
As stated in the Golden Grain statement, “since it was not possible to find a possible compromise, and Ibragimov’s fight threatens Ibragimov’s fight, the team representing the interests of the Russian, decided to announce that the fight for the WBO world title with Brigg will be held on June 2 in the United States.”
At the same time, the uncertainty remains where the Maskaev’s duel with Klitschko will take place and whether he will take place at all. Vitaliy, who announced a little probability of this battle a few days ago, is not yet available for comments.
Ibragimov’s duel with Brigg will be shown live on American and Russian television (approximately at 5:00 Moscow time in the morning), ITAR-TASS reports.
