On Tuesday, the new Minister of Defense Anatoly Serdyukov begins to study at the Academy of the General Staff. Within a month, he will have to listen to a special course and pass an exam on the basics of state security. The new Minister of Defense personally asked the head of the General Staff Yuri Baluevsky. According to the curriculum of Serdyukov, it will be 2-3 hours to study two or three times every week, the Izvestia newspaper writes.

The full academically course takes two years, but for civil servants at the Academy there are special training courses. A personal special course was developed for the Minister of Defense. Anatoly Serdyukov already has two higher educations - economic (Leningrad Institute of Soviet Trade) and legal (legal faculty of St. Petersburg University).

Serdyukov was appointed Minister of Defense a month and a half ago. On his initiative, in the central structures of the department there is a check of financial discipline in relation to some military leaders. According to the newspaper, the ministry itself awaits personnel permutations. The high -ranking sources of Izvestia say that at least three heads of the military department can lose their posts: the head of the weapons - deputy minister Alexei Moscow, the head of the Economics and Finance Service Lyubov Kudelin and the state secretary - deputy minister - head of the personnel department Nikolai Pankov. All of them are united by one thing - until 2000 they worked in the Security Council with Sergey Ivanov.
