The leadership of the World Boxing Council proposes to divide boxers into categories depending on their qualifications and achievements in professional ring.
According to the WBC head Jose Suleiman, this innovation is aimed at preventing the so -called "Mismatch" - fights in which one of the rivals significantly exceeds the other in the class, which often means many missed blows for a weaker boxer, heavy knockouts and a knocks, and an unpleasant opportunity to be in a hospital bed after a fight.
“One of the most important problems of ensuring the safety of boxers is that many promoters arrange fights with“ bags ”to their boxers,” Suleiman said. “And when a qualified and skilled boxer meets the class much lower than him, and accidents happen to the fatal outcome. We cannot allow this to continue further.”
A detailed discussion of this proposal will be held on April 24-25 in Mexico at the WBC Second Medical Congress, and participants in the WBC annual Congress, which will be held in November of this year, will be able to approve these innovations.
The WBC offers all 164 participating countries to divide their boxers into ten categories, and then this division will be carefully analyzed and approved by the WBC. In accordance with the proposed innovation, the first category will include boxers included in the top ten WBC ratings in each weight category, boxers from the second dozen will include the second category, from the third, and the fourth from the fourth. The fifth category will be regional champions, the sixth - national, seventh - other champions.
Boxers participating in ten -round battles will compose the eighth category participating in the eight -world - the ninth, and the last tenth category will include boxers conducting six -rang battles. After the introduction of this system, boxers from the first category will be able to fight only against rivals from the first and second category, a battle with opponents from the third category and below for them will be prohibited. In addition, Suleiman announced another change in the rules, according to which the referee will receive the right to remove one point from a boxer, who intentionally entered Clinch more than five times for the battle, reports Allboxing.ru .
