
The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Alexander Medvedko was hospitalized in connection with coronary heart disease with unstable angina pectoris against the background of a hypertension, the press service of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office said on Wednesday.
At the time of the absence of Medvedko, the performance of the duties of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine is entrusted to his deputy Viktor Pshonka, Interfax reports.
It should be noted that on the eve of one of the television channels, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Tabachnik, said the president of the country intended to resign Alexander Medvedko. Tabachnik said that an attempt to “eliminate” the Prosecutor General will take place on Friday at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.
However, on Wednesday, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Alexander Moroz, emphasized that only the Verkhovna Rada can dismiss the prosecutor general, on the proposal of the president. According to Frost, this issue is initiated because "he (the prosecutor general) is not controlled."
It should be noted that Medvedko is the only members of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, except for Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, who did not support the decision of the Security Council on the financing of early parliamentary elections from the government reserve fund, since he considers this a violation of the legislation. The Medvedko also denied the statement of the SB on the alleged receipt of bribes in the form of apartments by the judge of the Constitutional Court Susannaya Stanik , who was appointed judge as a loser in the case of the constitutionality of the President of Yushchenko on the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada and the conduct of early elections of parliamentary deputies.
