The Romania Parliament gave good to the placement of US military bases in the country

The parliament of Romania at a meeting of both chambers decided to place the US military bases in the country. Legislators also voted for the American military contingent to be increased by another 500 people, reaching 3 thousand soldiers and officers.

The US military bases in Romania will be located mainly near the Black Sea coast: at the Mikhai Kogelnichan airfield near the main Black Sea Romanian port of Constanta, as well as at the training grounds in the Babadag (Tulcha County on the border with Ukraine), a rink (County of Sibiu in the center of Romania) and at the Smadan (County Galats on the border with Moldova). Work on the preparation of future bases has already begun here, ITAR-TASS reports. The first US troops will be able to arrive here in the summer of 2007.

The agreement on the placement of US military bases in Romanian territory was signed in December 2005. It also provides that in case of violation of Romanian laws, American military personnel cannot be brought here to administrative and criminal liability.

Note that the Black Sea region has long attracted the attention of strategists from the USA and NATO. So, in the spring of 2006, the Americans agreed on the placement of three of their bases in Bulgaria, and also planned to settle in the Crimea. True, in the latter case, the protests of the local population forced the military to abandon this idea.

From the coastal Black Sea territory, the military plan to strike their opponents in the Middle East. Therefore, Romania, located at the "intersection" of the West and East, also attracts the attention of the United States. Having gained control over the surrounding territories, Americans may approach the implementation of their plans to create a global security system. Therefore, the number of their military bases in Romania will grow, the agency gives the opinion of the Romanian political scientists.
