In Latvia, the remains of 87 Soviet soldiers reburied

On Friday, a ceremony of reburial of the remains of 87 unknown Soviet soldiers took place in the city of Rizha district of Latvia on Friday. According to BNS, about 150 people took part in the ceremony.

Most of the participants in the event organized by the Russian embassy were veterans of the Second World War. The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Russia to the Latvia Victor Kalyuzhny, the ambassador of Belarus Alexander Gerasimenko and the leader of the Latvian Socialist Party Alfred Rubix.

After the official ceremony, during which brief speeches with the words of gratitude to the war veterans made Kalyuzhny and Gerasimenko, the remains were buried. Then several speeches were said by veterans, Interfax reports. There were no information about any incidents during the event.

The Russian embassy also plans to hold a number of events on May 8 and 9. In particular, on May 9, it is planned to lay flowers to the Victory monument in Zheville (left -bank part of Riga), to the graves of Soviet soldiers in Pokrovsky and garrison cemeteries. The monument to Riga’s liberators will take place with the ensemble from Moscow and Fireworks.

In Riga on May 9, events in honor of the Victory Day over fascism will be held mainly at the monument to Riga's liberators in Zhevvin. A rally will be held here at the end of the street march from the town hall.

Meanwhile, representatives of the Radical Party "All - Latvia!" They stated the intention to put flowers "in memory of the Latvians ruined by the Bolshevik terror ruined by the Bolshevik terror."
