
The assembly production of the German automaker Volkswagen in Kaluga is scheduled for October 2007. About this, according to RIA Novosti , said the Minister of Economic Development of the Kaluga Region Nikolai Lyubimov on Thursday.
According to him, at present, the construction of a assembly workshop with an area of 12 thousand square meters is in full swing, but with a slight lag behind the schedule.
In October of this year, the first Skoda and Passat models will take off from the conveyor of the plant. In 2009, when the production is organized in large -air assembly mode (including welding, painting and stamping of body parts), the enterprise will produce cars of Polo models. Lyubimov noted that these cars will be adapted to the Russian market, their price will be about 10 thousand dollars.
It is assumed that by 2009 the power of the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga will be about 115 thousand cars a year.
