A student of one of the most prestigious universities in the world, Yale University, is suing his leadership and other student, who accuses of sexual harassment. As compensation, the girl asks for an amount of $ 20 million, ABC News reports.
In August 2005, this student, whose name is not called, as well as a newcomer named Gregory Corb together at celebrations on the occasion of dedication to students. There, as reported, young people took alcohol. After that, the Corb spent the girl to her dormitory room, and then, according to the text of the lawyer filed by the lawyer to the Supreme Court of New York, "subjected her to physical and sexual violence, biting his face and chest, which caused physical injuries, as well as pain and suffering." At the same time, he did not allow the girl to escape, "until he finished," the document says vaguely.
Corba was soon arrested and charged with sexual violence. At the same time, the lawyer defended his innocence. As a result, the court conventionally freed Gregory Korba to bail with a trial period of one and a half years. At the same time, he was forbidden to be in a studio and contact with the victim all the time of the test.
At the same time, the victim and her mother accused the university of that he was not able to ensure the personal security of students during the events held on his territory and ensure that minors did not drink alcohol.
Further in their lawsuit, the plaintiffs indicate that the university allowed the rapist to be in the territory of Studgorod in December 2006. A year and a half has not yet expired, but Corb got to the university to sign documents related to his training abroad. He was allowed to move unaccompanied, which, according to two women, violates the conditions of the trial period.
And compensation for the student is required in order to pay for the psychological assistance that she received after the incident, and in which "apparently, the rest of her life will need," the lawsuit says.
"Yale University is a sharp intolerance to sexual attacks and any violations from any member of his community," the official representative of the university said in response to the lawsuit. According to him, the instructions are clearly defined and prohibited by violence, and any student who will be involved in it will be subject to judicial persecution and disciplinary punishment.
The university spokeswoman also indicated that Gregori Corb was arrested immediately after the incident. It was a decision of the university that tracks all such cases and provides the victims with all the necessary assistance. In addition, young people at the event did not use any alcohol that evening, since they are forbidden to reach the age of 21, the representative emphasized.
ABC News notes that this is not the first loud claim for a sexual attack among students at Yale University. Some of them are becoming known to the public, some can be kept secret. The same situation in other universities in the United States.
According to some studies, less than five percent of the victims declare the violence in the student environment in law enforcement agencies, although the situation is gradually changing. According to official statistics, the number of such incidents increases slightly: in 2003, 2,615 occurred in the United States in the United States, and in 2005 - 2,697. However, experts believe that such an increase in complaints was due to the fact that students began to report more often about violence addressed to them.
