Those who disagreed were not allowed to see Griboyedov

Today, the leaders of the St. Petersburg opposition will try to come to an agreement with the administration on agreeing to the “Our City Day” rally on May 27. In response to an application submitted to the administration, the Committee on Legality, Law and Order and Security reported that on the same day in the same place - at 16:00 on Pionerskaya Square - at the Griboyedov monument, the administration of the Admiralteysky District planned a festive event dedicated to City Day. In this regard, the committee “recommended choosing another location for the action.”
All this would be logical if not for two but. Firstly, the application submitted by the chairman of the St. Petersburg Yabloko, Maxim Reznik, and the chairman of the St. Petersburg OCF, Olga Kurnosova, did not talk about the monument to Griboedov, but about the steps of the Theater for Young Spectators. There are two big differences: from one place to another – about 200 meters. And secondly, and much more importantly, no festive events are planned for this day on Pionerskaya Square! The city administration's newsletter dated May 21 has been available on the Internet since Saturday, where there are announcements of all events and a separate section with events dedicated to City Day. According to the government website, no citywide or regional events are planned for Pionerskaya Square on May 27. The Admiralteyskaya regional administration is going to hold concerts on this day in the Yusupovsky Garden, in the Alexandrovsky Garden and on Izmailovsky Prospekt, 14 - all these places are quite far from the Youth Theater.
Another possible opposition event is still being discussed: we are talking about the next March of Dissent, which the “Other Russia” coalition proposes to hold in St. Petersburg on June 9. It is worth noting that these days the XI St. Petersburg Economic Forum will be held in the northern capital, and the city will turn into a special situation zone: blocked highways, a blocked center, enhanced security measures due to the presence of top officials, including President Vladimir Putin, members of the government , high-ranking representatives of foreign countries... In general, it won’t seem like much. At the same time, the extremely flexible law “On State Security” makes it possible to ban any processions around the city without explanation, declaring that they threaten the safety of VIPs, who will urgently need to go somewhere along this route.
The St. Petersburg opposition has not yet discussed the organization of this march - relevant decisions will be made this week, taking into account all the circumstances. On the one hand, in the presence of a huge number of representatives of the world's leading media, it is unlikely that the city authorities will take tough measures, on the other hand, the march may go unnoticed against the background of the forum, which will be covered with all possible information power...
