Gerashchenko is ready to become a candidate for president-2008, because "for the state is insulting"

The chairman of the board of directors of the company Yukos, the former head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Viktor Gerashchenko, does not exclude that he will run for presidentas a single opposition candidate .

“There is a certain research work with me and here, I think, there is no secret that the first contact was made (leader of the OGF) Harry Kasparov. I naturally thought and discussed this issue with loved ones and friends for three and a half months, until I decided that the power was insulting,” Gerashchenko said on the air of the Echo of Moscow .

He noted that he met with the leader of the People's Democratic Union Mikhail Kasyanov. "We talked about our views, that certain contacts or collisions were possible, but one opinion was expressed on both sides - so as not to substitute the legs of each other," he said.

“The one who is more promising, from the point of view of receiving votes, should be a single candidate,” Gerashchenko added.

Answering the question of whether he would have taken in case of victory in Kasyanov’s presidential election to the prime minister, Gerashchenko emphasized that "he considers him a stronger economist than the current Russian prime minister."

He also noted that he did not coordinate the intention to nominate his candidacy in the presidential election with the shareholders of the Yukos.

Touching upon the problem of the consolidation of opposition parties and movements, Gerashchenko noted that "work on unification is happening, but not yet with his participation."

"It is conducted at the level of leading persons in the opposition, including with the leaders of the Communist Party. Their position on the political field requires that they traditionally have their own candidate, although the capabilities of their electorate are still not enough to even go on a second round," Gerashchenko said.
