Law enforcement agencies became interested in the financial and economic activities of the Russian People's Democratic Union (RDS), headed by former Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov.
The sudden interest of law enforcement officers in the public movement included in the Coalition of another Russia appeared on Monday during a meeting of the regional branch of the RNDS in Tula. As Elena Dikun, Advisor to Media, told Interfax Elena Dikun, the congress discussed the issues of the upcoming movement on June 2.
“70 people gathered for the meeting, but literally five minutes after its beginning to the premises where it took place, a district police officer, an UBEP employee, eight people in civilian clothes and presented a decree on verification of the financial and economic activities of the RNDS political party,” a representative of the movement told Interfax.
According to her, "then about 50 more people drove up to the building and blocked him." In addition, in the office of the movement where the meeting of Tula activists took place, all computers were taken.
Commenting on what happened, Dikun said: “Firstly, why is it about a political party, when we are a movement? Secondly, why did the Tula branch present a decision to verify the financial and economic activities of the entire organization? And, thirdly, why did they suddenly decide to check us, because we even hinting that we could violate the law, we had?”
According to her, at the moment, many RDS activists continue to be in the office, although the law enforcement agencies do not repair obstacles in order to leave it. “But, of course, the meeting has already been broken,” said Dikun.
Official confirmations and comments of law enforcement agencies have not yet been received on the fact of the audit.
