President of Belarus Lukashenko and more than 50 Belarusian officials are prohibited from entering Lithuania

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and more than fifty other Belarusian politicians and civil servants were declared by Persons Non Grat in Lithuania and they are prohibited from entering this country.

“The Lithuanian government on Wednesday approved a list of persons whose entry is prohibited into the territory of Lithuania,” the secretary (deputy minister) of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, Davidas Matulionis, told reporters following the results of the government meeting.

Matulionis noted that this decision of the Lithuanian government regarding Belarus, in essence, is not the sanction of Lithuania, but the sanction of the European Union, but Lithuania, as a member of the EU, only joins them, Interfax reports.

The deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that in addition to Lukashenko, the ministers of the law enforcement agencies, the Prosecutor General, the head of the KGB of Belarus, the speaker and some members of the parliament, members of the election commission, are about 60-70 persons against which the EU countries apply sanctions are included in the list of Person Non Grata.

Recall that following the European Union, similar sanctions against Lukashenko, his environment and his business partnerswere introduced by the United States .
