The Moscow City Court extended the term of detention of the Bittsev maniac, who killed 49 people

The Moscow City Court on Wednesday extended until September 15 the term of detention Alexander Pichushkin, accused of a series of murders in Bitsevsky Park in Moscow. Thus, the court granted the request of the prosecutor's office to extend the term of detention of the accused.

Pichushkin is suspected of committing murders under Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The investigation charged him with 49 episodes. As noted in the prosecutor’s office, in the case of release, Pichushkin will be able to hide from the investigation and try to avoid punishment, Interfax reports.

In turn, Pichushkin himself asked the court to free him from custody. "I am a law -abiding and punctual citizen and I can appear for investigative actions at the first call of investigators," the suspect said, but the court agreed with the arguments of the prosecutor's office.

Pichushkin was detained in June 2006 on suspicion of committing a series of murders on the territory of the Bittsevsky forest park. He himself previously stated that he had 61 murder on his account, he personally knew many victims. However, the evidence collected in the case allowed Pichushkin to charge two murders.

As previously said by the Moscow prosecutor Yuri Semin, the prosecutor's office collected evidence of the commission of 50 murders by the so -called Bittsev maniac. According to some episodes, the identity of the dead is currently continuing.

As it became known, in this criminal case, the law enforcement agencies of the capital conducted over a hundred various forensic examinations, more than 200 people were interrogated. The preliminary investigation is planned to be completed this year.
