Two weekends, on June 2-3 at the Arkhangelskoye estate near Moscow, the IV traditional Open-Air festival "Manor. Dzhaz" took place. The Yusupov Palace on the banks of the Moscow River, one of the most beautiful places in the Moscow Region, where even friends from St. Petersburg was brought, was given to the ownership of music.
This year, the organizers first declared the festival as international, promising as well-known foreign performers, such as Felix Lahuti, Nino Katamadze, Paolo Fresu, and so far not so popular, but from the no less expected Life is not a picnic (after all, this group is represented by the French culture department). And, of course, all the lovers of jazz were looking forward to the performance of the Avishai Cohen Trio (Aristocrat site) and Marcus Miller Band (Parater) closing the festival. The organizers not only focus on the level of the best international jazz festivals, but also hope to become a few years later with them. And, I must admit, they have every reason for this.
Yes, of course, the popularity of the festival overtakes the capabilities of the organizers: the infrastructure clearly could not cope with so many visitors. After all, it is difficult to make the festival not only like the participants (after all, despite the principle of the organizers not to repeat, many of the speakers want to hear next year), but also became a real comfortable rest for several thousand visitors. Hence the huge lines (to the entrance, parking, for hot dogs and toilet), which have become a serious problem for many who came to rest.
In addition, the transitions system between the sites (partly the fault of restoration work in the palace) was not fully thought out: it is not very convenient to make it to the aristocrat site through the Mount of Crushed Program, or to go around the field each time to get into the "stalls". But, it seems that those whom it did not frighten did not regret that they arrived. Moreover, the weather, as the organizers promised, did not fail: the heat was sleeping, the warm and clear weather of the beginning of summer stood.
Perhaps true connoisseurs and experts can speculate about the fate of jazz in Russia (can such a passionate rhythmic music be in our endless cold country?), About the boundaries of the genre, about the lack of technology at one, the other and an excess of the fourth stage for everyone else. One could talk about not always completely satisfactory sound quality. But, it seems, in this case, this is not crucial. In a sense, this is a holiday for everyone, and if everyone has found music in the rhythm of his heart, we can say that the festival was a success.
On the first day, the clockwork, artistic, cheerful Life is not a Picnic, and the Parater was closed by the popular and beloved Nino Katamadze. In the evening of the second day, Marcus Miller raised the thousandth audience as if on the crest of the wave, and then brought down down or, conversely, slowly lowered it, then, after a minute, to start taking off again. And at the same time, the subtle, intellectual, incredibly technical Avishai Cohen contrasted the sensuality of his fulfillment of Miller's passion. Music for everyone and elite jazz.
Therefore, after a year, put on Chinese silk and drink champagne in the academic “aristocrat” (on a small platform located in the courtyard of the palace, tickets were sold very in advance), light linen dresses are perfect for dancing in Kapapasis, on the way to the “launge” scene from the branches of bright oranges for yourself and for friends, enjoy enjoy Music by the whole family or company in the "stalls". Listen to jazz.
