For the first time in several decades, the May 9 parade lost its human dimension - it was as if it had been frozen. Although passions and emotions are the main television language of our time (“Turn off your brains” is the slogan of “2x2”, “Series are your second life” - an announcement on STS). The visual and dramatic excess in the premiere of “About This, About the Poet and About Lilya Brik” (“The First”) still did not cancel the idea of ​​inner freedom at any time and for the mass audience they tried to combine it with emphasized sensuality.

Cultural reservation “Cultures” (“Life Line”, Yuri Shevchuk concert, “Pro Art”, “Meanwhile”), information reservation REN TV and “Euronews” (permitted place for all “others”), event reservation “Vesti 24” (broadcasts without cuts of official events), reservations of interest in people (“One Day” with Kirill Nabutov, individual reports of “The Main Hero” on NTV, “Stories in Detail” on STS), reputational nightly reservations of terrestrial channels - so they are gaining on decent public channel. The television viewing minority can be grateful to our television for the fact that it teaches them to have the will and desire to seek and receive not a television “surrogate”, but to make a choice and develop immunity to propaganda, vulgarity and “bloody shocking” carnivalesque.

For the television majority, TV “prosthetizes” failed forms of social participation, actions and the illusion of presence in someone else’s life (“Minute of Fame”, “King of the Ring”, yellow films about the private lives of stars), seasoning all this with a patriotic and confessional feeling (discussion of “Eurovision”) and adrenaline of passions for a prosperous public (“Program Maximum”, “Russian Sensations”). Against the background of the increased number of stories about the church and Orthodoxy (especially in NTV news), the premiere of the “Bitch-Love” program on the same channel is significant in its own way. The game of talented savagery, which NTV cultivates, can, of course, be considered as a pathological experiment in savoring “not the norm.” The only trouble is that the cesspool may be too deep.
