Nazarbayev's daughter and grandson will not suffer
The disgraced senior son-in-law of the President of Kazakhstan, Rakhat Aliyev, remains the main newsmaker in his country. The 44-year-old ex-diplomat and ex-security officer, dismissed by his father-in-law at the end of May from his last duty station, the post of Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Austria, is now in Vienna on bail of one million euros. Austrian authorities detained Aliyev at the request of Kazakhstan in connection with the initiation of a criminal case against him on charges of creating an organized criminal group, kidnapping and other criminal offenses.
On June 12, Rakhat Aliyev announced his divorce from Dariga Nazarbayeva (they are still together in the photo) : “Today I received information that I was divorced, they stuck a fax with this information between the bars of the fence of my house at a quarter past midnight... They even they forged my signature on the document.” Aliyev recounted his telephone conversation with Dariga to journalists. “My father put a lot of pressure on me,” she said. “She couldn’t do anything,” Rakhat added...
Dariga Nazarbayeva herself has not appeared in public for several weeks and has not commented on the difficult situation in her family. “It’s hard to count how many times my husband and I were divorced. And we are still together, in spite of all our enemies. It’s just that we have love at first sight...” – the eldest daughter of the President of Kazakhstan previously wrote on her personal website.
Instead of Dariga, the information about the divorce was denied by the official authority. The head of one of the departments of the Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan responsible for the work of registry offices, Zaida Nurabaeva, told reporters yesterday that she “has no information that these spouses received such a document (about divorce. - Ed. ) from the registry office”: “But I can say for sure that “In any case, their divorce process will take place in court: after all, they have minor children. The judge makes a decision on divorce, usually after 10-15 days it comes into force, and after that citizens turn to us to register the divorce.”
Answering the question whether spouses can divorce in absentia if they are in different states, the official explained: “A marriage can be dissolved on the basis of an application from one party. The wife could well have filed documents for divorce without the consent of her husband. They can be considered without the participation of the defendant, in In this case of Rakhat Aliyev, everything is decided by the court." The Kazakh newspaper Vremya claims that Dariga “just filed for divorce.”
The eldest daughter of the President of Kazakhstan and her husband have three children: 22-year-old Nurali, 17-year-old Aisultan and 7-year-old Venus. They have a four-year-old granddaughter Laura, daughter Nurali and great-granddaughter of President Nazarbayev, who will turn 67 on July 6.
The situation around the information received on June 12 about the resignation from the post “at his own request” of the Secretary of the Security Council of Kazakhstan Berik Imashev is also not entirely clear. The official took this step because he allegedly “does not have the moral right” to remain in a high position due to the fact that he is the matchmaker of the disgraced presidential son-in-law - his daughter Aida is married to Rakhat Aliyev’s son, Nurali. Yesterday, rumors about the resignation of the Security Council Secretary were called on one of the Kazakh Internet resources “highly exaggerated: Berik Imashev is currently working in his position.”
At the same time, the Kazakhstan Today news agency reported yesterday that the Kazakhstan Agency for Regulation and Supervision of the Financial Market and Financial Organizations (AFN) gave consent to Dariga Nazarbayeva and Nurali Aliyev to acquire the status of a major participant in Nurbank JSC. Let us recall that their husband and father, Rakhat Aliyev, until recently was the main shareholder of Nurbank, and, as he stated in an interview with the Austrian press, the Kazakh authorities froze about $300 million in his account in Nurbank. Let us add that Rakhat Aliyev is suspected of kidnapping in his homeland two top managers of this particular Nurbank. Now the right to be the “main participant” of the bank will be inherited by the eldest daughter of President Nazarbayev and his grandson.
