The Guam summit (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldova), who began work on June 18 in Baku, may turn out to be unprecedented in terms of the number of participants. In addition to the leaders of the member countries of the GUAM, the presidents of Poland, Romania and Lithuania will take part in the summit. For the first time within the framework of the summit, meetings of Guam-Ssha and Guam Japonia will be held.
A joint statement by Guam Polsha is also assumed. The delegation of the UN, OSCE, NATO, the Council of Europe and other international organizations arrived in Baku. In total, about 30 countries showed interest in the Baku summit. Russia, as before, ignored the organization’s meeting. “Not a single official observer on our part has been sent to Baku,” the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry told the Frances.
One of the important issues on the summite’s agenda, according to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov, is a discussion of the “connecting corridor in the territory of the Member countries of the GUAM in the direction of Europe and Asia,” the network publication “Caucasian Knot” reports. This topic will be discussed in the context of ensuring the safety of transport corridors in the territory of the GUAM member countries and, in general, the fight against international terrorism.
The declaration was prepared for the signing following the meeting, an agreement on the privileges and immunity of GUAM, a memorandum of cooperation and mutual assistance on nuclear and radiation safety issues, and a number of other documents.
The summit will end with the scientific and practical conference "GUAM in the region and in the world."
