Mikhail Kasyanov is going to establish his own party by the fall of 2007

Mikhail Kasyanov, a former prime minister of the Russian government, and now the opposition and leader of the movement of the Russian People's Democratic Union ( RDS ), together with his supporters intends to create a political party. This, as Interfax reports, the politician said during the teleconference with Novosibirsk.

“In the near future we will begin to fulfill the requirements of many RDS members who spoke about the need to create a political party. I think such a constituent congress should take place somewhere in the fall,” said Mikhail Kasyanov.

At the same time, he emphasized that the future party is created "not for the elections to the State Duma", but for other elections, so that the opposition has the opportunity to defend its views and solve its problems.

The adviser to Kasyanov’s work with the media, Elena Dikun, said that the first meeting of the organizing committee on the Constituent Congress of the party should take place in the coming days in Nizhny Novgorod, where the ex-Prime Minister will arrive on a working visit.

According to Dikun, the following is considered as a working name of the future party: "The people for democracy and justice" (VAT).

Answering the questions of journalists after the completion of the television, Kasyanov said that to recruit 50 thousand people in the party, as required by the law, "for us is not a problem." “And not some mythical people, we already have them,” Kasyanov emphasized. He recalled that RDSs now include members of the ATP, and Yabloko, and part of the Democratic Party of Russia, which were not included in the current transformed party, as well as members of other political organizations.
