Prosecutor's Office: In the case of the death of the military correspondent "Kommersant" Safronov crime was not detected

The investigation in the case of the death of the military correspondent of the Kommersant newspaper Ivan Safronov did not find the criminal circumstances of his death.

“No crime was found in this case. During the investigation, the“ criminal ”version was completely worked out. There was no evidence of this version,” the official representative of the Moscow prosecutor’s office on Friday told Interfax.

At the same time, he noted that the investigation of the case was still completed, the investigation was extended. “Other versions are being worked out, after which the procedural decision will be made,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

Earlier, a source close to the investigation told Interfax that the connection of the death of a journalist with his possible publications on some supply of Russian weapons to the Middle East was not confirmed.

"Investigators have to find out what exactly caused the suicide of the journalist. So far, the investigation is inclined to the version associated with the personal life of the deceased," the agency’s interlocutor noted.

Recall that the military correspondent of the newspaper Kommersant, 51-year-old retired colonel Ivan Safronov died on March 2. His body was found under the balcony of his house on Nizhny Novgorod Street in the center of Moscow.
