Yesterday, the Russian Managers Association (RAM) and the Kommersant publishing house completed the first stage of preparing the eighth release of the Top 1000 Russian Managers rating - the initial collection of information about participants and experts.

Let us remind you that the rating, a joint project of AMP and Kommersant, is formed according to the principle “the best choose the best.” This means that the majority of the ranking experts are the participants themselves. This methodology allows for the greatest objectivity of the assessment: HR people know HR people better, PR people know PR people, financiers know financiers, etc. The fact that the rating system also contains an industry principle adds confidence in the competent assessment by experts of each manager declared on the long list.

So, this year, 856 experts - general directors and directors of functional areas - will take part in the voting procedure. The total number of managers who have declared their desire to participate in this year’s ranking is 2,630 people.

As in previous years, the final rating tables will consist of 1000 people - 500 general directors, 100 financial directors, 100 commercial directors, 100 HR directors, 100 IT directors, 100 corporate and public relations directors, representing companies from sixteen industries of the domestic economy (timber and wood processing industries, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, production of consumer goods, professional services, communications, telecommunications, high technology, service, construction, fuel complex, trade, transport, financial sector, chemical industry and electric power industry).

Starting this year, managers of functional areas of the media business industry became full participants in the rating (in the previous year, only general directors from the industry participated). “In recent years, the media business has been growing in such a way that it is impossible not to notice it. Who are these people who are ensuring such amazing explosive growth in the industry? Who are able to assemble and lead strong competitive teams from scratch, not only reviving the idea of the media as the fourth estate , but also forming an idea of the media as a business? This is what we want to find out by compiling the Top 1000 rating,” said Sergei Litovchenko, executive director of the AMR.

The next stage of preparing the rating is drawing up a shortlist based on expert voting. Voting will be conducted online on the AMP website. Each expert will receive an individual login and password to enter a restricted area of the site. Experts vote within their industry and are entitled to three votes.

The final tables of the eighth edition of the Top 1000 Russian Managers rating will be published on the pages of the Kommersant newspaper in September.
