| TV critics sum up the season
The past season continued a long-established trend: in the struggle for ratings, that is, ultimately for the cost of advertising time, channels are trying in every possible way to attract mass viewers, to be interesting to as many people as possible, and thereby lowering the bar more and more. All channels, without exception, are turning yellow, and no one is putting any barriers to this movement towards understatement, except that abstinence from porn films in prime time is required. State power is only concerned with maintaining stability and loyalty to itself, the opposition has been excommunicated from the airwaves, so news programs are increasingly reminiscent of their Soviet predecessors. As for the pauses between advertisements, they are filled with the most vivid, savory and publicly accessible content possible, and one can only envy Soviet television with its concerts of Western stars on Easter night. And most importantly, there are almost no traces of differentiation, division by interests, or types of audiences. Unless there are age restrictions: STS - for young people, TNT - for the male part of youth, NTV - for men of all ages, "Russia" - for pensioners throughout the country, and "First" is simply the most important. And in any case, we are not talking about the target, but about the widest audience. This, in essence, saddens all television critics without exception, who still assume the presence of meanings, ethical restrictions and aesthetic search in the television process. Television cares little about these demands. The authorities, as most television journalists noted, are satisfied with the position of television and even reward it twice a year. |
