German actor Ulrich Mühe, whom the Russian public met only last week, has died: he played the main role in the film “The Lives of Others,” released on Russian screens on July 19. This film about the GDR, where Mühe brilliantly played the main role, received an Oscar last year as a foreign film and was recognized as the best film in Europe, and Ulrich Mühe received the award for best actor. It turns out that while filming this film, the 50-year-old actor was already seriously ill.
The illness did not prevent him from creating a strange and convincing character of a little man of honor - in a sense, contrary to the dramatic scheme, and it is likely that it was his existence on the screen that ensured such a success for the film.
Next week, another film with Ulrich Mühe, “My Führer, or the Most True Truth about Adolf Hitler,” will appear in Russian box office, in which he played the role of a Jewish teacher of rhetoric, summoned from a concentration camp to teach Hitler to speak again.
