A key role in determining the attractiveness of men for women play the size of a part of a face located between the mouth and eyebrows. British paleontologists came to such a conclusion, as The Daily Telegraph writes.
Therefore, a penetrating look, a charming smile and expensive means after shaving - all this is not necessary, and the secret of male attractiveness is reduced to simple calculations, the publication notes (the full text on the website inopressa.ru ).
Studies conducted by the Museum of Natural History showed that in adolescence the upper part of the face - from lips to eyebrows - develops differently in men and women. In men, the distance between the eyebrows and the upper lip is smaller, because of which their mouth looks larger, the cheeks are wider, and the eyebrows are more distinct.
But, unlike other facial features, this difference cannot be explained by the fact that men are larger than women. Researchers believe that these features in men developed as a result of evolution, since they look more courageous.
Dr. Paleontology Eleanor Weston, an employee of the museum, studied 68 male and 53 female skulls, which are stored at the University of Witustrand University in South Africa.
She says: "We divide the distance between the eyebrows and the upper lip into the width of the face. The smaller the resulting value, the more courageous the face looks."
"It is unlikely that it can be explained by something else, why during the evolution of men the faces turned out to be shorter and wider. Probably, women simply find them more attractive."
At the same time, as the faces of men became shorter and wider, fangs became less noticeable, and therefore men began to look less frightening and more attractive for the opposite sex.
According to Weston, it is necessary to continue research, however, according to the initial analysis of photographs, the list of the most “courageous” celebrities is headed by actor Will Smith.
