"Dean" is no longer a hurricane, but a tropical storm

The hurricane "Dean" reduced the intensity and turned into a tropical storm after he left the water area of ​​the Mexican Gulf in the area of ​​Veracreus.

Tropical storms are characterized by a lower wind speed, but they can be extremely dangerous due to heavy rains, which lead to river spills and landslides in the mountains, ITAR-TASS notes. Moving through the mountain range to the north-west, storm, gradually losing intensity, brings storms to the internal states of Mexico, where all civil defense services are brought into a state of increased readiness. At the Laguna Verde nuclear power plant located on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, electricity production was stopped at the approach of a hurricane. For recovery work on high -voltage power lines, the Federal Electricity Commission sent two thousand specialists and about two hundred special equipment to Verakrus.

Due to the hurricane from Monday, the production of the Kampche deposit was completely stopped, which means for Mexico the loss of 2.7 million barrels of oil daily. The state -owned company "Pemex" expects to resume the work of marine mining platforms on Friday.
