The prosecutor's office of the Omsk and Astrakhan regions conducts a check of compliance with the rights of citizens in consumer lending. Corresponding messages are posted on the official Internet sites of these departments, Kommersant writes. The audit is carried out in the leading banks of the consumption market in each of the regions. In the Omsk region, according to the prosecutor’s office, this is a “Home Credit and Finance Bank”, Investsberbank, Rusfinancebank and Alfa-Bank. The names of banks that came into the view of the prosecutor's office in the Astrakhan region, with the exception of the Russian Standard bank, are not disclosed.
As part of the Russian Standard Bank, the owner of the bank Rustam Tariko was called to the Russian Standard Bank for a conversation, after which the Bank’s board of directors made an unprecedented decision to abandon additional regular and one -time commissions for all loans and sanctions for early repayment.
The complaints of borrowers against credit institutions are today accepted in all district prosecutors. Banks are afraid that borrowers will regard the actions of prosecutors as a credit amnesty.
The Prosecutor General’s Office says that there was no order to check banks on a national scale. "We do not confirm the information that the prosecutor's office of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation is given to conduct inspections of a number of banks on this issue," the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office noted.
On June 29, the Prosecutor General’s Office announced an order from the Central Bank, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Federal Service for Financial Monitoring to check the Russian Standard Bank in connection with the “numerous appeals of citizens about violations of their rights when concluding consumer lending agreements with banking organizations”.
It was about sending credit cards to citizens with a proposal to activate them by phone. The claims concerned that at the same time "complete and reliable information about the service provided and the consequences of its conclusion is not brought to the consumer, and the real interest rate for using the loan is several times higher than the declared."
