Boris Grebenshchikov will be performed at the UN headquarters

The leader of the cult rock band "Aquarium" Boris Grebenshchikov will give a concert in one of the audience headquarters of the UN in New York, the UN press service said.

In the announcements, the schedule of the UN Grebenshchikov Day is represented as Purushottama - such is the spiritual name given to the rock musician by his teacher Sri Chinmoy, literally means translated from Sanskrit "going beyond the limits of restrictions." Better known in his homeland as B.G., the leader of the Aquarium will give a concert as a person who contributes to the rapprochement of various cultures and views, RIA Novosti reports.

It is still unknown what will sing rowers to representatives of 192 nations. However, apparently, the meeting will be of a chamber in nature - the concert will be held in the audience with only 170 seats.

Boris Grebenshchikov is one of the brightest figures of the youth culture of three decades. He was born in a family of an engineer. His first performance took place in the spring of 1973, and in November 1974 the Aquarium team, created in 1972, debuted along with a group of like -minded people. At the beginning of its activity, the team led a semi -underground lifestyle: records were made at home, the group practically did not leave on tour.

After the performance at the Tbilisi Rock Festival in 1980, Boris Grebenshchikov was expelled from the Komsomol and was removed from the post of junior researcher. The Aquarium group in the Soviet Union was prohibited. However, the team continued to exist and take part in the festivals of the Leningrad rock club. In the late 1980s, Boris Grebenshchikov recorded the first English-language album Radio Silence together with Dave Stuart.

Recently, Boris Grebenshchikov often performed outside Russia: in India, Spain, the USA. In the spring of 2007, the musician, along with the Aquarium, performed in the famous Albert Hall London . In 2006, the musicians released the last album "Careless Russian Tramp" to date, two compositions from which are written on ancient Celtic melodies. For professional merits, the musician received a number of awards, one of the latter - the Vysotsky Vysotsky Award Award named after Vladimir Vysotsky.
