The aviation authorities of Egypt allowed Russian airlines to use IL-86 aircraft for charter flights until May 15, 2008. According to Tuesday, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, this decision was made based on the results of negotiations between representatives of the aviations of the two countries held on August 28 in Cairo. Thus, Russian tourists will be able to safely buy tickets to Egypt, without fear of the abolition of charter flights.
“The entire IL -86 main park is used on charter flights for transportation to Egypt,” the department said. “European countries have already closed their sky for IL -86. It is forbidden to fly this modification in the EU.”
According to some reports, the Egyptians asked for some concessions for their national air carrier Egypt Air as a compromise. Vyacheslav Ilyushin commented on this information diplomatically: “Everything that is not documented is considered only as an oral wish,” reports Newsru travel .
“Given the fact that the IL-86 remains on the market, the structure of air transportation on Egypt in the upcoming winter will differ little from last year,” Mikhail Shamanov, the head of the Aviacarter company, commented on the result of negotiations. According to the expert, “transaero” and “Atlant-Soi” will dominate in the Egyptian direction by secrecy. The rest of the market will go to VIM-Avia, Siberia, Krasaire and Tatarstan.
However, according to unofficial data reported by one of the tour operators of the Turinfo IA, Il-86 flights will be allowed to Egypt only until December 31, 2007.
The problem of allowing Russian aircraft to the Egyptian air has once again aggravated this summer. IL-86 aircraft are actively used by Russian airlines and tour operators to perform charter programs. It allows you to transport about 350 passengers and is one of the largest domestic airliners.
In Russia, 57 aircraft of this type are registered, of which 41 are involved in transportation. Before the disaster on July 28, 2002 at Sheremetyevo Airport, which died most of the airliner crew, the IL-86 was considered the most reliable in Russia.
The last time the information that the Egyptian authorities plan to ban flights to the country of IL-86 aircraft appeared in March 2007. The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation then proposed consultations between the aviation authorities of Russia and Egypt to discuss this issue, along with other topics regarding air transportation between the two countries.
Events, as before, since 2002, usually develop according to the following scheme: Egypt authorities send a notification to Russian airlines that Il-86 aircraft exceeding the standards for noise will no longer accept from Russia. However, in the process of negotiations, the Russian side each time managed to agree on a delay in this measure.
According to experts of the air transportation market, such plans may be explained by the attempt of the Egyptian authorities to ensure the interests of national airlines in the charter transportation market.
