Having dealt with the affairs of adults in Moscow and replacing the Prime Minister, President Vladimir Putin arrived in the capital of Chuvashia - Cheboksary, where yesterday evening he completely devoted to children. Acting First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev showed him national projects in action.“This is not a special milestone and certainly not a summing up. This is more likely presidential control,” Dmitry Medvedev explained to reporters the day before the meaning of this visit. The President traveled to the region for the first time precisely to look at the implementation of national projects. The trip is timed to coincide with the second anniversary of the start of their implementation.
Considering that political scientists have recently said that Mr. Medvedev is “lagging behind” his colleague Sergei Ivanov in the informal ranking of “successors,” President Putin’s participation in such a trip immediately after the resignation of the cabinet looked very significant. The absence of Dmitry Medvedev at the emergency government meeting was also significant - at that moment he did not say goodbye to the outgoing members of the cabinet, but in the full sense of the word functioned as a curator of national projects.
In Cheboksary, Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev saw two of the four national projects in action - "Education" and "Healthcare". First, the president came to the older children. The national education project was illustrated by the example of a secondary school in the village of Trenkasy. “The school is exemplary, but not exemplary,” Mr. Medvedev explained this choice.
The school won the national project competition and received a million rubles, with which it built a computer class and a sports ground. The president really liked the school, and the Internet conference held in its building with representatives of the education system was held in positive tones. The teachers thanked the president for national projects, and he thanked them for their good work.
After visiting the village “demonstrative, but not exemplary” school, the president went to meet the children who had just been born. In the capital of Chuvashia there is a presidential perinatal center where severely premature babies are cared for. It is planned to create a network of twenty such centers in Russia. The new building in the city center is equipped with the most modern equipment. Two intensive care vehicles, allowing children from all over the republic to be transported to the center, were received as part of a national project. However, according to Deputy Chief Physician Elena Naumova, “our most unique equipment is people.”
The President was shown how nurses care for tiny babies born weighing less than a kilogram . The smallest patient we were able to see at the center weighed only 650 grams. And now he is already eight months old. True, doctors admit that more than half of these children suffer from serious pathologies.
Nevertheless, such centers are the future. In Europe, the number of premature babies who were able to survive thanks to medicine is still many times higher than ours.
