
During the many thousands of protest rally near the Capitol building, 160 people were arrested in Washington, RIA Novosti reports.
The arrests began after some participants in the rally jumped over the fences before the steps of the Capitol. Many, having overcome the fence, did not resist, however, in at least two cases, the police had to apply chemical aerosols at a time when the law enforcement officers tried to expel the protesters from the steps of the Capitol with the help of shields. In response, the protesting participants threw their posters and shouted "shame on you."
The protesters decided to storm the Capitol after the police did not respond to the action, during which the protesters lay on the ground on the lawn in front of the Capitol and covered with banners, which, according to the plan of the participants, symbolized the soldiers who died in Iraq.
Before reaching the Capitol, the rally participants, who, according to the organizers, were about 100 thousand, walked along the streets of Washington from the White House.
On the way to the Capitol, along the Pension Avenue, supporters of the war in Iraq were lined up, who sharply expressed their attitude to the anti -war rally. The protesters reacted to rudeness, but it did not reach the hassle.
