Muslims wrote a letter to Christians

More than 130 Muslim theologians filed an open letter to the Pope Benedict XVI , the head of the Anglican church, Archbishop of Canterbury and other Christian leaders. In it, they call for the establishment of greater understanding between Islam and Christianity. According to them, the world on Earth and the survival of mankind depend on improving relations between these religions, today the Russian BBC service reports.

Comparing the Qur'an and the Bible , they note the proximity of both teachings regarding the recognition of one God and the need to live in peace with neighbors.

In addition, Muslim theologians assure that both Christians and Muslims worship the same God.

In this letter, the text of which will be published on Thursday in Washington, it is said that the Prophet Muhammad was opened the same truth that previously became known to other prophets - Christian and Jewish - including Jesus Christ.

Theologians also assure that the Koran obliges Muslims especially in a friendly way to treat Christians and Jews - the followers of these prophets.

This letter appeared a year later from the moment of publication of an open letter of 38 Muslim theologians to Pope, which became a reaction to the words of Pontico about Islam that caused disputes.

Then Benedict XVI quoted the statements of the medieval Byzantine emperor Manuel II that Islam sowed "evil and inhumanity" in the world. Having emphasized several times that this is not his word, Benedict XVI retold the statements of the Byzantine monarch that Muhammad called on "carry the faith that he preached."
