"Vladimir Baranov-Rossine is an artist of the Russian avant-garde." The name of the master of the Russian avant-garde - painter, draftsman and sculptor Vladimir Baranov-Rossine (1888-1944) is little known in his homeland. His fate was dramatic. In 1912, together with Marc Chagall, Ossip Zadkine, Alexander Archipenko, Chaim Soutine, he became an inhabitant of the famous Parisian house "Beehive" and participated in Parisian salons under the pseudonym Daniel Rossinet. During the First World War he lived in Norway, where his personal exhibition took place. In 1918 he returned to Russia and was actively involved in social and teaching activities. In 1925 he again found himself in Paris. In 1944, after being arrested by Hitler's Gestapo, he died in Auschwitz. Baranov-Rossinet's work is a combination of different styles characteristic of the international Parisian school - post-impressionist, cubist and cubo-futurist.
