
The Arkhangelsk Regional Court canceled the verdict to the mayor of Arkhangelsk Alexander Donskoy, who previously convicted for the use of a fake diploma and illegal entrepreneurship. As ITAR-TASS reports, the case is sent for a new consideration in a new composition of judges.
According to the agency, the verdict was canceled "in connection with significant violations of the Code of Criminal Procedure, including the right to defense."
On September 4, the Oktyabrsky District Court sentenced Donskoy to the year of imprisonment and a fine of 75 thousand rubles. The court considered proven that Donskoy in 2004 acquired a state-owned diploma of higher education at the Northern Institute of Entrepreneurship and on the basis of this document entered the All-Russian correspondence financial and economic institution for the accelerated receipt of the second higher education.
In addition, Donskoy was called the guilty that, being the only owner of the company "Season", he, taking advantage of his position of the mayor, gave it benefits and advantages. The court agreed with the arguments of the prosecutor's office, which regarded this as illegal entrepreneurial activity.
From August 1, Donskoy has been detained in another criminal case - about abuse of authority. He is accused of that in violation of the current legislation, he organized the protection of himself and his family at the expense of the city budget.
On October 8, Alexander Donskoy was admitted to Fair Russia. According to the leader of the Arkhangelsk branch of the party Elena Securgin, the question of the admission of Donskoy was submitted to the expanded meeting of the bureau of the regional branch of the party, in which, in addition to eleven members of the bureau, the heads of local branches of the party and deputies participated. He was accepted into the ranks of "Fair Russia" unanimously.
