
The Federal Space Agency cannot yet name the reasons why the landing of the descent apparatus with the ISS went on a reserve option using a ballistic descent. This was announced by the head of Roscosmos Anatoly Perminov, RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, the descent device "at the very last moment fell into the ballistic trajectory." “Most likely, the state of the atmosphere and the position in which the ship was located influenced,” Perminov suggested, emphasizing that along the ballistic trajectory, the descent apparatus overcame the “very small distance - about 50 km”. “For us it was a complete surprise,” the head of the space industry admitted.
“The descent along the ballistic trajectory is still a regular moment, although we, of course, had to worry,” said the head of Roscosmos. According to him, "they were worried not because there was a ballistic trajectory, but because there was no connection for a long time." “There was no connection until we saw the descent device from the aircraft, we received the first information from the plane that the descent device was lying on its side, there was a small fire - the grass around it was burned, it means that the engines have not worked out, in addition, the descent capsule was not pulled out on the ground,” Perminov said.
