The Czech Parliament refused to hold a referendum on the pro

The Czech Parliament decided not to hold a special referendum on the placement of the American missile defense base in the country. According to RIA Novosti, 76 deputies spoke out for the adoption of a referendum law, while 120 votes are needed to make this decision.

The US government officially asked the Czech Republic to start negotiations on the placement of the PRO radar in January 2007.

Supporters of a popular vote on this issue are deputies representing the Czech Social Democratic Party and the Communist Party of the Czech Republic and Moravia.

The Czech government opposed the popular vote. The civilian democratic party ruling in the Czech Republic has previously stated that it was an opponent of such a referendum.
