The leader of the Russian People's Democratic Union, Mikhail Kasyanov, made an unexpected statement at a meeting with journalists on Saturday. He called the actions of the opposition coalition "Other Russia" to nominate a presidential candidate "harmful and aimed at dividing, rather than consolidating, the forces of the democratic opposition." The former prime minister described the intention of “The Other Russia” to participate in the election campaign to the State Duma as “complicity with the regime.” The leader of the RNDS considers all this to be obstacles to interaction with the “Other Russia,” but “obstacles that can be overcome.” When asked whether the work of the RNDS representative on the organizing committee of the “March of Dissent” means that the RNDS is returning to the “Other Russia,” Kasyanov answered negatively. “This does not mean that we are restoring interaction with the Other Russia, and also does not mean the participation of the RNDS in the organizing committee,” Kasyanov emphasized.
