Nikita Tatarsky: In St. Petersburg, a “march against hatred” was dedicated to the memory of the scientist and human rights activist Nikolai Girenko, killed by the Nazis 4 years ago.

Tatyana Voltskaya: On Sunday in St. Petersburg, a “march against hatred” was organized by human rights and anti -fascist organizations of the city. More than a thousand people took part in it, many noted that this is noticeably more than last year. This time, the march was given to the international status, the organization of Amnesty International said its solidarity with the march participants, the youth action in support of the march was held in the Netherlands, its photos were brought to Sakharov Square, where the rally took place. The rally was preceded by the march itself: the column of participants in the action with bright banners and banners was held along Dobrolyubov Avenue, the exchange bridge and the university embankment, and the group of the “Young Guard of United Russia” followed it, which was not allowed to join the main column. There were other provocations: several times an aggressive look, young people tried to join the column, but they were not allowed by the police and riot police. There were also tense moments at the rally, as a result of the “Young Guards”, listening to the insulting cries of “Antif” and anarchists in their address, they left, not waiting for the end of the rally.

It is unfortunate that the march of the memory of Nikolai Girenko, who was killed by the Nazis for his anti -fascist activity, is used this time for political purposes, ”says Olga Kournosova, leader of the St. Petersburg“ United Civil Front ”.

Olga Kurnosova: Since the election campaign has already begun, many people did not come from a pure heart. And we are used to the fact that “a march against hatred” was always such a very sincere event, and people who actually worried, who were bitterly, who killed Nikolai Mikhailovich came. I personally knew Nikolai Mikhailovich. And the fact that in our city political killings are still continuing, this is precisely what has always united us, the rejection of this particular fact. Therefore, I think that the election campaign will end, and the situation will only worsen.

Tatyana Voltskaya: Anti-fascist and anarchist youth were also clearly unhappy with any manifestations of election campaigning: when there were calls to vote for the “apple” and for other parties, deafening slogans immediately rushed from under the red and black banners.

Tatyana Voltskaya: But Most of all they recalled Nikolai Girenko himself, as well as Timur Kacharava and Anna Politkovskaya, whose portraits could also be seen on Sakharov Square. The speakers also proposed organizing pickets from bookstores noticed in the distribution of literature that sowing national discord.
