Editor of the Azerbaijani opposition newspaper Azadlyg was arrested by court decision

The editor -in -chief of the Azerbayzhanskaya Opposition newspaper Azadlyg (Freedom) Ganimet Zhidov, detained last weekend, was taken under arrest by the decision of the Yasamal district court Baku, Interfax reports.

As previously reported, Zakhidov "on the basis of a complaint from a certain person" was called to the Yasamal district police department Baku and was taken into custody as a suspect. He was placed in the chamber of preliminary conclusion of this management. Lawyer Osman Kyazimov said that in relation to his client, charges were charged under Articles 127 (intentional infliction of bodily harm) and 221.1 (hooliganism) of the Azerbaijan Criminal Code.
