Volvo will present its new serial XC60 SUV in Detroit
The Volvo automotive company as part of the January Auto Show in Detroit will present a serial version of its Concept XC60. The prototype of the new compact crossover was shown at the same exhibition in 2007. The Moscow presentation of the SUV will be held at the end of November, and in Europe it will appear in early 2009.
According to the newspaper "RBC Daily" , the car was built on the LR2 platform Land Rover Freelander 2 SUV. This platform offers all kinds of off -road qualities along with comfortable movement in the city. The machine received a dynamic design, which, in its concept, is outwardly similar to the Volvo C30 compartment. So far, there is no information about the technical filling of the XC60, but according to unofficial data it became known that the all -wheel drive car will receive two gasoline engines: a six -cylinder volume of 3.2 liters and a 2.5 -liter turbocharged five -cylinder, as well as one diesel, developed by a Ford volume of 2.2 liters.
According to experts, the competitors of the Volvo XC60 will be models of German brands BMW X3 and Audi Q5. According to Oleg Datskiv, the development director of the Auto-dealer.ru project, the advantages of the XC60 will be oriented by the Volvo brand itself on a fairly wide target audience and good price offer: the cost of the car will be from $ 50,000.
