Phantom pain in Russia

The Russian side believes that there is an urgent need to streamline the participation of non -governmental organizations in the OSCE events. As RIA Novosti reports, Mikhail Kamynin said to be official about this.

"The situation is absurd in which marginal, or even" phantom "NGOs that do not have registration with the participating states, especially preaching extremist views, are called for such events," he said on the eve of the Council of the OSCE Foreign Ministry in Madrid.

What kind of organizations are in question, Kamynin did not specify. Kamynin recalled that Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan presented specific proposals on this score. According to him, these proposals provide for "civilized building relations with NGOs according to how it is done at the UN."

Russia proposes to allow any NGO to meetings of the OSCE only after approval by the state where they are registered. In addition, in textual organizations they must comply with the legislation of their country, not support violence and terrorism, as well as have significant experience.
