Higher School of Economics is 15 years old

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the institution of the Higher School of Economics on November 27, 1992 by a decree of the Government of Russia.

The teachers and students of the GU-SHE was congratulated on the birthday of the university, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation Sergey Stepashin.

The State University is the Higher School of Economics (GU -VSHE, HSE, in the informal student environment - “tower”, “ls”) is one of the ten largest universities in Russia for the training of highly qualified multidisciplinary specialists. E. G. Yasin, Ya. I. Kuzminov, R. Entov, O. Ananin, R. M. Nureev stood at the origins of the creation of the Higher School. Active assistance in creating the HSE was provided by L. Abalkin and E. T. Gaidar.

In 1995, HSE received the status of the State University, where, along with economists, they began to prepare sociologists, specialists in public administration, political scientists, lawyers, journalists, etc. At the same time, a system of scientific centers of the Higher School of Economics was created, aimed at applied research on the orders of the Russian Ministry of Economy, the Central Bank, the Ministry of Education of Russia, commercial enterprises and banks.

To this day, the principles of the GST have developed and settled: support on the requirements of world economic and social science; interdisciplinary interaction (economists receive a legal education, and vice versa); direct connection between teaching with the practice of reform, with the results of applied research; An educational mission in the educational community of Russia, in its regions; The continuity of the teaching staff.

To date, 2187 teachers and researchers work in the Higher School of Economics, including more than 800 part-time people from the business, research institutes and government bodies. In 2006-2007, 14,716 students studied at the university. The HSE also has 3 branches: in St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Perm.

HSE’s birthday will be celebrated on November 27 at the Moscow Youth Palace. At the celebration, an announcement of the laureates of the annual Golden Tower Prize will be held.
