
The Savelovsky Court of Moscow on Thursday will be sentenced in absentia to Boris Berezovsky, accused of embezzlement of about 215 million rubles of Aeroflot airline. During the debate of the parties, the prosecution asked the entrepreneur to be sentenced to 9 years in prison in a general regime colony. The representative of the Prosecutor General Alexander Kobryakov asked to find Berezovsky guilty of fraud, that is, theft of funds and legalization (laundering) of funds received as a result of criminal activity.
The prosecutor’s office is confident that Berezovsky’s fault was fully proved during the judicial investigation, as evidenced by the materials of the criminal case, written evidence and testimony of witnesses.
In turn, the entrepreneur’s lawyer Alexander Dudkin considers this charge unreasonable and not proven.
The trial was in absentia, as the accused is in the UK, where he received the status of a political refugee. The Russian authorities have repeatedly sent a request for his extradition, but still did not receive a positive answer, ITAR-TASS reports.
The Aeroflot case is connected with operations with the airline foreign exchange earnings through Swiss companies "Forus" and "Andava". Earlier, the Savelovsky court sentenced the three other defendants in the case to 2 years in prison, conditionally everyone and recovered from them in favor of Aeroflot 214.988 million rubles.
In total, 11 charges were brought in Russia in Russia, including the embezzlement of $ 13 million, SBS-AGRO Bank, six sanctions for its arrest were issued in absentia.
