Former FSB Colonel Trepashkin will be released on November 30

The ex-colonel of the FSB Mikhail Trepashkin , convicted of disclosing state secrets, will be released from a general regime in the Nizhny Tagil of the Sverdlovsk Region on November 30, Elena Tishchenko, head of the Press Service of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Sverdlovsk Region, told the Interfax agency. Earlier, the camp administration wanted to leave Trepashkin for another 19 days, but the court rejected the corresponding application.

In 1998, Trepashkin, together with Alexander Litvinenko, took part in a press conference, during which the officers of the special services accused the FSB of corruption and murders. In 2002, Trepashkin acted as a lawyer Litvinenko, last year killed under mysterious circumstances in London. Trepashkin was also related to the Public Commission for the investigation of 1999 explosions in residential buildings.

On May 19, 2004, he was convicted by the Moscow District Military Court for disclosing state secrets and storage of ammunition. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison with a serving of a deadline in a colony-settlement. A number of human rights organizations stated that the prosecution was fabricated. In the summer, the European Court of Human Rights examined Trepashkin’s complaint about illegal detention and inhuman conditions in the temporary detention center, where it was at the end of 2003.

The Eurosud unanimously admitted that the Russian authorities violated the article of the European Convention on Human Rights on the prohibition of torture. The applicant was appointed compensation in the amount of three thousand euros. Two more complaints of Trepashkin are waiting for consideration.

On March 9, the Tagilstroy court of Nizhny Tagil tightened the regime for the prisoner Trepashkin, transferring him from a settlement to a general regime colony. The decision was motivated by systematic violations - the convict had five current penalties. In November, this decision was confirmed by the Sverdlovsk Regional Court.
