In order to disperse the opposition rally in Tbilisi on November 7, Georgian authorities used a psychotron weapon - an American acoustic generator, causing people a sense of panic and mental disorders. The generators were installed on police jeeps and were the hexagonal shields on the movable rack, which made a sharp whistle. These shields, being directed towards the demonstrators, turned those to flight, reports the Moscow Komsomolets .
And the Russia Today channel managed to shoot jeeps with the generators installed on them in the video. The video of the broadcastis posted on the website wired.com.
The weapons expert Viktor Syryk told the television channel: “The Georgian Police used“ sound guns ”. This is an intellectual weapon that for a while disorients people. Also, the police used the so -called“ smelly bombs ”and rubber bullets, which can cause very serious injuries.”
MK reports that many rally participants turned to hospitals within the next three days after dispersing the demonstration with complaints of a sharp deterioration in the mental state. Patients complained about the attacks of agorathobia, or fear of open spaces: they were afraid to leave the house, go to the store, cafe, go down to the subway or just walk along the street. Fear and disgust at the physical level were caused by strangers, a crowd: being, for example, in a crowded metro car or bus, the victims experienced a suffocation, they dry out in their mouths, they beat chill or the temperature rose. Some noted short -term failures in their memory.
LRAD - Long Range Acoustic Device (long -range sound device) was developed by the American Technology Corporation by the Pentagon after the terrorist attack on the American destroyer in Yemen in 2000.
Sound gun lrad
It is known that the installation weighs about 20 kg, has a “plate” of a hemispherical shape with a diameter of about a meter and looks like a spotlight or locator. It produces a narrowly -focused piercing sound of a high frequency, similar to the howl of a fire siren, but much louder. The volume of LRAD reaches 150 dB and can even damage the human hearing aid (for comparison: in fire siren - 80-90 dB). In this case, the frequency of sound vibrations is 2100-3100 Hz. But the sound has such characteristics only inside a narrow ray, so that a sound blow does not harm the operator, but affects only enemies. The "gun" acts on the enemy by the power of sound, stunning it and causing a pain shock.
The "sound gun" was used during the fighting in Iraq. In 2004, its developer, American Technology Corporation, concluded a contract with the US army worth 1.1 million dollars for the supply of these settings by the Marine Corps. It was planned to use them to disperse crowds of rebellious Iraqis. And at the same time, apparently, to study the consequences of the effect of new weapons on the human body. Before the events in Tbilisi, not a single government applied it against its fellow citizens, the newspaper writes.
A working installation causes a person’s acute pain in the ears, a feeling of inexplicable uncontrolled fear and panic. According to some experts, the use of these systems can cause mental disorders. Meanwhile, this equipment does not fall under the action of international conventions, since it has been developed recently, after their signing.
