The authorities of France handed over evidence of the political persecution of Okarta in Georgia

On January 3, the migration service of France will consider the issue of providing political asylum to the ex-minister of the Georgian defense, Irakli Okhaashvili, his lawyer Eka Beselia said on Wednesday. According to her, until that time, Okabashvili will remain in the Berlin prison Moabit. "France was transmitted to the decision of this issue because the Visa for the entrance to the European Union was issued by the France Embassy in Georgia," the lawyer said.

Beselia emphasized that the German side has already transferred all the documents to provide the political asylum to the French, the Interfax reports. "The decision on the possible extraction of Okagashvili in Georgia will be made after consideration of the issue of providing him asylum in France, although this decision on extradition will already make a German court," she said.

"I hope that France will provide Okashvili Political asylum, as we presented all the necessary evidence of the political persecution in Georgia of the ex -minister," Beselia said.

Recall that during the few weeks of November, the ex-minister of Georgian defense, Irakli Okhaashvili, was detained in Berlin on November 27, on the basis of the International Organ Order, issued by Interpol at the request of the Georgian prosecutor's office, during the Georgian Clinic.

On November 29, the Investigative Judge of the Criminal Chamber of the Berlin Court elected a preventive measure against Zaashvili in relation to the premises in the investigative insulator of the Berlin-Moabit prison before the decision on the start of the issuance process.

On November 3, the Criminal Chamber of the Berlin Court accepted the proceedings on the issuance of a Georgian citizen Okashvili and upheld his previously chosen preventive measure for the entire period of hearing in the case (the maximum term is 40 days).

The whole procedure for making a decision on the issuance and directly transfer of the issued person, as previously explained in the Ministry of Justice, takes place on the basis of the provisions of the European Convention "On Extreme (Issues)".

The Georgian authorities accuse Okashvili of extortion, money laundering, official negligence and abuse of official powers. The Berlin Court must study the completeness of the evidence presented by Georgia on this score “according to formal signs”, not finding out the guilt or innocence of the accused, in strict accordance with the requirements of German laws.
