The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy Romano Prodi is expected to turn to the parliament on Tuesday and explain the situation in the country after the ex-minister of justice Clemente Mastella the day before expressed his intention to support the current government, Interfax reports.
Recall, on January 16, Mastella announced his resignation after his wife was imprisoned in connection with the extortion of a bribe at the head of the Catert City Hospital.
Mastella announced that if a resolution of confidence in the government, the party headed by him, the Union of Democrats for Europe (ODA), will vote against the Cabinet of Ministers, is taken to the parliament. He also noted that from now on advocates for early elections.
This position of Mastella can lead to immediate government resignation. However, at first, Prodi decided to turn to the deputies and get the support of the current government from them. But according to analysts, this will only postpone the onset of the imminent government crisis.
The performance of the prodi before the parliamentarians is scheduled for 12:00 Moscow time.
