Ivanovo police officers and counterintelligence officers lost their roofs

The Investigation Department at the Ivanovo Region Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal case into a strong fire that occurred on Tuesday night in the building of the regional police department and the FSB Directorate, known in the city as the “Bullet House” due to its characteristic shape. As a result of the emergency, two floors of the four-story building were almost completely burned out, the remaining two were smoked and filled with water. The fire was put out all night, but, fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries. According to the police, they even managed to save almost all important documents and archives. According to preliminary information, investigators have virtually ruled out the possibility that the building was deliberately set on fire.

The fire in the house on Lenin Avenue, where the main units of the regional Internal Affairs Directorate and the FSB Directorate are located, began around 9 pm on Monday. According to the press secretary of the Internal Affairs Directorate, Vladislav Radostin, the fire was located either in one of the offices on the top, fourth floor, or in the attic. Immediately after the fire was reported, all personnel were alerted. As noted by the Internal Affairs Directorate, the employees managed to evacuate a significant part of the office equipment, documents and service weapons. All data from the ATC information center were also saved.

However, it took about 10 hours to localize the fire - the fire area was about 2 thousand square meters. According to rescuers, due to the wooden floors and numerous voids, as always happens in old buildings, the flames spread very quickly. The report that the fire had been contained was received only at 5.30 am on Tuesday. It took another two hours to finally extinguish individual fires and smoke. As a result of the fire, the building, which is a monument to the era of constructivist architecture of the 30s of the last century, according to rescuers, suffered significant damage - the roof and interfloor wooden floors collapsed, the premises of the third and fourth floors were completely burned out, the rest were heavily smoked and flooded with water.

Yesterday morning, the head of the regional police department, Alexander Zabegalov, held an emergency meeting, at which a decision was made to accommodate employees left without offices. Some of them will continue to work for now in the building, which was not damaged by the fire, and the rest will temporarily move to the buildings of the district and city police departments and the Dynamo sports complex.

As for the future fate of the "Bullet House", the issue of its restoration, as reported yesterday by the city mayor's office, will most likely be resolved positively, since it is an architectural monument. The final decision will be made after a construction examination.
