The new resolution of the Security Council (SB) of the UN for Iran contains serious signals of Tehran and provides for the expansion of sanctions decisions that were previously taken against Iran, said the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Kislyak.
"When this document becomes public, you will see that there are serious signals to Iran and a certain expansion of sanctions decisions made earlier," he said in an interview with Interfax , is provided.
Kislyak added that "a certain tightening of sanctions occurs after each adoption of the SB resolution." “But it is a balanced, proportional to the development of the situation,” he emphasized.
Commenting on the fact that after the meeting of the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Six countries (five members of the Security Council and Germany) from Moscow and Western countries, various assessments of the project of the new resolution sounded, Kislyak remarked: "The difference in estimates is probably dictated by the compromise character of the document itself."
“I will not say that this is an unusual diplomatic practice, to emphasize in the document what you want to see,” the deputy minister said.
According to him, "the objective reality is that the new resolution is, first of all, a serious political signal to our Iranian colleagues about the need to cooperate with the UN Security Council and follow the decisions of the board of management of the IAEA."
After the meeting of the “six” in Berlin, in Russia, they said that the new resolution would not contain tough sanctions measures against Iran, and in the USA - that it would be “punitive”.
“I would like to accenture that the new resolution is preparing in the same way as the previous ones, that is, in the context of Article 41 of Chapter 7 of the UN Charter, which excludes all use of force. That is, there is no question of any“ punishment ”here,” said a high -ranking diplomat.
